LONG BEACH, Calif.--June 28, 2004 - Epson America, Inc. today announced the EPSON Expression® 10000XL large format, A3+ color flatbed scanner. Successor to the award-winning Expression 1640XL, the Expression 10000XL features high resolution, fast scanning speeds, outstanding functionality and advanced networking capability -- making it an ideal solution for the scanning perfectionist.
The new Expression 10000XL boasts Epson's unique ColorTrue® II Imaging System, an advanced technology that integrates superior hardware, optics and image processing to achieve ultra-sharp, high-quality scans with accurate color reproduction and reduced noise. Featuring 3.8 optical density (Dmax), 48-bit color and 2400 x 4800 dpi hardware resolution, the Expression 10000XL is the highest resolution scanner in the B-Size Flatbed scanner class, rivaling many dedicated drum scanners.

It includes the EPSON TWAIN Pro scanner driver with Easy Photo Fix color restoration technology; MonacoEZcolor(TM), a color management utility with included reflective IT-8 color target designed to help calibrate the scanner monitor and printer properly and easily; Adobe(R) Photoshop(R) Elements 2.0 for image editing; and ABBYY FineReader Sprint OCR.
The Photo Model, which comes equipped with a full-size (11.4" x 16.5") transparency unit (TPU), is ideal for professional photographers and includes the same robust software bundle as the Graphic Arts model with the addition of LaserSoft Imaging(R) SilverFast(R) SE 6, high-end scanning software.
Both versions of the Expression 10000XL support network scanning via an optional network card as well as USB 2.0 and IEEE 1394 (FireWire) connectivity for high-speed scanning.
