Epson today announced it is a global sponsor of the 2016 Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards Exhibition for the fifth consecutive year. As the exclusive Printer and Paper Sponsor for the ongoing exhibition, Epson’s professional printing technology allows visitors to celebrate the beauty and diversity of nature through the art of photography. On the second floor of the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C., museum guests can view the award-winning photographs displayed from one of the world’s most prestigious nature photography competitions.

“We are always exploring new ways to engage and delight visitors to the Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice International Awards exhibitions,” said Steve Freligh, awards director. “Equally as important to the inspiring story behind each fine art print within the exhibition is the quality. This is why we rely on Epson professional printing solutions to provide industry leading products for the best possible prints.”

The Smithsonian exhibition opens on Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2016, and features winners from the annual Windland Smith Rice International Awards program. Chosen from more than 25,000 entries from photographers, the exhibition will showcase the winners of each awards category and a selection of Highly Honored images. The images, along with an accompanying HD video, are displayed as large format prints ranging in size from 2 x 3 feet to nearly 4 x 6 feet in the museum, which welcomes more than eight million visitors annually.

This year’s exhibition prints were created on the Epson SureColor® P9000. With the precision of the Epson PrecisionCore® TFP® print head and performance of the Epson UltraChrome® HDX 10-color ink set, the 44-inch printer delivers superb photographic prints with extraordinary color, rich blacks, and dramatically improved print permanence. In addition, smaller prints were created on the Epson SureColor P800. The 17-inch printer leverages an Epson MicroPiezo® AMC print head and UltraChrome HD 9-color ink set, with three-level black ink technology to deliver smooth tonal transitions for the finest black-and-white prints. Used with Signature Worthy® and Legacy Papers the SC-P9000 and SC-P800 produce exhibition-ready output with exceptional print permanence levels.

“We are honored to support one of the most highly-respected and visually compelling nature photography competitions in the world,” said Larry Kaufman, product manager, Professional Imaging, Epson America, Inc. “The photographs in this exhibit demonstrate how the photographers’ vision can be realized with the latest advances in printing technology. Our goal is to provide photographers with the most advanced printing technology so they can produce prints that inspire us all.”

The Nature’s Best Photography Windland Smith Rice Awards exhibition will be viewed by millions of visitors at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and is open daily, free to the public. This annual photo competition is open to the public and photographers at all levels of expertise – pros, amateurs and youth – are encouraged to submit.
